Community Recycling Event
Firestone’s popular Recycling Event makes eco-friendly living easy! Now entering its successful third season, the event draws more than 300 households each year. The focus of the event is on reuse, refurbishing, and recycling, helping ensure that items collected can be put back to good use whenever possible.
Residents can enjoy convenient services like document shredding, donating gently used furniture, and junk removal, all while diverting waste from landfills and supporting sustainability in our community. Items brought to the event should be in usable or recyclable condition to support the event’s mission. It’s a simple, community-focused way to recycle responsibly and make a positive impact in Firestone.
- Saturday, April 18, 2026 | 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- Firestone Maintenance Facility, 7500 County Road 20
REGISTRATION:
Residents must register in advance to secure a spot at Firestone’s Recycling Event. Registration helps manage traffic flow and ensures there’s enough space for everyone. Entry will not be permitted without a confirmed registration.
Proof of residency is required: bring either a government ID showing a Firestone address or a utility bill at a Firestone residence that matches the name on your government ID.
- Online Registration opens on April 1, 2026 and closes at 5 p.m. on April 17
Event Reminders:
- The event goes on rain, snow, or shine! Expect a few muddy spots if it’s wet — wear sturdy footwear.
- Stay up-to-date by clicking "Interested" on Facebook for event updates.
- Help Those in Need: Consider donating non-perishable items to the Carbon Valley Help Center! For a list of requested items, visit their website.
SERVICES AVAILABLE:
Paper Shredding
Each participant may bring up to one banker’s box of paper for shredding. This limit helps us serve as many community members as possible and keep the process running smoothly. If you have additional paper beyond the limit, we encourage you to explore other recycling or disposal options.
Scrap Metal
Scrap metal will be collected separately from other recyclables. Common household and construction metals are typically accepted, but guidelines may vary.
Donation & Junk Removal
Accepted materials vary by vendor. Please review the information below to see what items will be accepted at the event.

- Cabinetry: Kitchen and bathroom cabinets (sets or individuals).

Accepted Items:
- Used Tires: Tires that still have usable tread and can be resold.
- Scrap Tires: Damaged or end-of-life tires intended for immediate recycling into mulch, powder, or fuel.
- Bicycle Inner Tubes: Often accepted for a small fee (typically around $2 per tube).

- Hazardous Waste: Freon-containing appliances, chemicals, or car batteries.
