Police Department Awards

Police Department Awards


During Wednesday night’s meeting, Chief of Police David Angelo and Deputy Chief of Police Bryce Borders presented four awards to members of the Police Department. 

  • Sergeant Dan Wittler received the Medal of Valor 
  • Officer James Belue received the Lifesaving Award
  • Sergeant Neal Lucero received the Lifesaving Award 
  • Detective Kimberley Cornwell received the Merit Award

The Board of Trustees congratulated these employees for these well-deserved recognitions and thanked them for their continued service to the community and dedication to their careers.

Dog Park Closure Discussion


During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed the status of the Dog Park closure project. The Board directed staff to find an alternative dog park location that could be constructed quickly to allow the current parks to stay open until a new park is available. On Thursday morning, Town staff met to discuss options and have begun due diligence work for multiple options and will present these at the next Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, March 22. As information is available, it will be shared through all of the Town’s communication channels and online at https://www.firestoneco.gov/713/Dog-Park-Relocation-Project.

Consolidated Service Plan for 
Denmore Metropolitan District Nos. 1-5 Approved 


After a public hearing during Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the Consolidated Service Plan for Denmore Metropolitan District Nos. 1-5.

 The following are the primary terms of the Service Plan:

  1. The Districts are approximately 144 acres in area, consisting of the proposed Denmore development located at the northwest corner of Firestone Boulevard and Frontier Street
  2. Maximum Debt Mill Levy: 50 mills subject to the Mill Levy Adjustment. The Maximum Debt Mill Levy may increase to 60 mills if the Town and developer do not agree to share the Regional Improvements costs identified in the Service Plan
  3. Maximum Deby Mill Levy Imposition Term: 40 years from initial debt issuance
  4. Maximum Operation and Maintenance Mill Levy: 60 mills until initial debt issuance, then 10 mills after debt issuance subject to the Mill Levy Adjustment
  5. Town Mill Levy: 3 mills collected yearly
  6. Estimated Public Improvement Costs: $58,664,199

 Approval of the Service Plan for the Districts does not constitute the Town’s approval of any future development or zoning applications for the subject property.
