This fall, the Firestone Police Department was awarded grant funding from CDOT to target speeding and distracted driving to reduce traffic accidents along Firestone Blvd/Hwy 119, east and west of I-25.
As a result of the continued growth in this region, traffic crashes are consistently the most written report taken by the Firestone Police Department year after year.
Beginning Monday, November 13, the Firestone Police Department will begin targeted enforcement on Firestone Boulevard, near the I-25 Frontage Roads. This STEP (Strategic Traffic Enforcement Plan) program will be ongoing over the next several months, with officers dedicated to enforcing all traffic violations in this area during various days and times.
The goal of this effort is to promote safer roads and responsible driving and reduce the number of traffic accidents in the defined area by 10% over the next 12 months.
