A Look Ahead into 2026
at the Town of Firestone
As we are well underway into 2026, the Town of Firestone is looking ahead to a year filled with meaningful projects and initiatives that support residents, strengthen Town operations, and invest in the community’s future. Across every department, Town staff continue to plan thoughtfully for growth, safety, infrastructure, and engagement—both behind the scenes and in ways residents will see and experience every day.
Below is a snapshot of what’s ahead in 2026, highlighting the many ways local government works to serve the Firestone community.
Administration
Administrative efforts will focus on leadership and long-term planning, including supporting the Board of Trustees during the Town Manager recruitment process, expanding the use of community surveys, continuing collaboration on Central Park, and completing the Facilities Master Plan to guide long-term investments.
Economic Development
Economic Development efforts will support existing businesses, attract quality commercial investment, and strengthen partnerships that align with Firestone’s long-term vision.
Engineering
Infrastructure priorities for 2026 include improvements at the Firestone Boulevard and I-25 interchange, finishing the annual Pavement Maintenance Program to protect local roads, and starting design of a new three-million-gallon water storage tank to meet future needs.
Facilities
Facility upgrades will enhance safety, efficiency, and cost savings. Planned projects include installing a new barrier gate operator at the Police Department’s north entrance and adding bird netting under the police carport to reduce maintenance and pest control needs.
Finance
Financial initiatives will focus on customer service and responsible fiscal management, including implementing budget billing for utility customers, adding a second municipal court date, and continuously reviewing policies and procedures.
Human Resources
Supporting employees and developing future leaders remains a priority. Human Resources will introduce a new competency-based performance evaluation system, launch a comprehensive training and development plan to promote career advancement and leadership readiness, and conduct an annual review of the employee handbook to ensure alignment with laws and Town objectives.
Information Technology
Technology upgrades will focus on security and public safety, including implementing full encryption for Town and Police Department systems to ensure CGIS compliance and completing installation of the NOLA camera system.
Marketing & Communications
The Town will keep focusing on strengthening connections with residents and improving how information is shared. Efforts include organizing and hosting community events, and starting work on redesigning the Town website to boost accessibility and usability.
Planning & Development
Key planning efforts involve adopting the Town’s new Comprehensive Plan, updating Building Codes, and making targeted revisions to the Firestone Development Code to resolve known issues and promote thoughtful growth.
Police
The Firestone Police Department will continue its modernization and professional development efforts, including implementing new technology, pursuing accreditation for the property and evidence room, and investing in training and leadership development.
Town Clerk
The Town Clerk’s Office will continue modernizing records and improving service by transitioning most files into a digital records management system, improving public records request response times, and coordinating with Weld County on election administration later in the year.
Water & Community Resources
Enhancing parks and recreation spaces and promoting water sustainability remain priorities. Projects include construction of the Mountain Shadows Park trail, replacing playground equipment at Sagebrush Park, and adding a new restroom at the Firestone Regional Sports Complex. The department will also continue to implement the Town’s Water Action Plan to ensure long-term water reliability.
Together, these initiatives reflect the Town of Firestone’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful planning, strong public services, and a high quality of life for residents. As projects move forward throughout the year, the Town will continue sharing updates and inviting community engagement along the way.
