Wooster Avenue Water Line &
Street Replacement Project
On Monday, June 10, 2019 a contractor will begin a water line and street replacement project on Wooster Avenue. Work will begin at the intersection of First Street and Wooster Avenue and progress towards Fourth Street. Scheduled work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is anticipated that the work for this project will last through the summer.
The new water line will be built parallel to the existing line in an effort to minimize disruption of water service to customers. New curb stops will also be installed at each residence along Wooster Avenue. Service down time should last only a couple of hours. Prior to any resident’s water being turned off to make the improvements, they will be individually contacted by the contractor.
Roadway improvements will be completed after the new water line is finished. The improvements include re-grading the roadway to alleviate drainage issues, along with removing and replacing all existing asphalt. Portions of the existing sidewalk, curb and gutter on both sides of the roadway will also be removed and replaced. Due to the nature of this work it will be necessary to close portions of blocks during the day. Detours will be provided to route traffic around the active work areas as efficiently as possible. Residents immediately adjacent to the active work areas will have limited vehicular access while the work is taking place to allow the work to progress and help ensure safety. To help minimize the inconvenience, residents will be notified by the contractor ahead of time to plan accordingly.
