Drilling Rig on Site at Water Treatment Plant
Beginning the week of June 14, 2021, a contractor will be at the St. Vrain Water Treatment Plant's construction site to install sound wall barriers, and a drilling rig will be rigged up. The drilling rig, identical to those used in the oil and gas industry, will drill a deep injection well for the Water Treatment Plant.
The deep injection well will be used to dispose of the salt-water by-product produced from the reverse osmosis process that will occur as part of the water treatment system.
Once the sound wall barriers and drill rig are in place, the drilling will occur for approximately 28 days and will be operational 24/7. Once the drilling is finished, the well will then be completed. This process will take 10-20 days and will be only operational during the daytime.
