Auto Thefts on the Rise in Firestone
The Firestone Police Department reports that auto thefts in Firestone have increased significantly over the last two years. In 2019 the Town of Firestone had 17 auto thefts reported. That number increased to 51 last year, in 2020. And already in 2021, the Police Department has taken over 25 reports on auto thefts.
In April and May of this year, most thefts occurred when the keys, key fob, or spare key fob were left in the vehicle. The Firestone Police Department would like to remind the community to always lock your vehicle and to never leave the keys or key fob in your car. It only takes seconds to steal items of value from an unlocked vehicle, and it doesn’t take much longer for the vehicle to be taken.
Anyone with information regarding any auto thefts or any other crimes is asked to please contact the Firestone Police Department at 303-833-0811. If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please call Dispatch at 720-652-4222 for non-emergency calls or dial 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
