Reducing Crime in our Community

In June, the Firestone Police Department reported that already in 2021, they had taken over 25 reports of auto thefts in the community.  Most of these thefts occurred when the keys, key fob, or spare key fob were left in the vehicle, and the vehicles were unlocked.
 
In an effort to combat these increased numbers, the Firestone Police Department will be utilizing a problem-oriented policing (POP) strategy that focuses on reducing crime.
 
This will occur with targeted patrols in areas that have been identified as “hot spots,” based on the number of thefts in that area.  These increased patrols will also be targeted during certain days and times of the week that the Police Department has seen increased reports of crime. 
 
The Firestone Police Department also continues to need your help! Don’t make yourself an easy target.  You should always lock your vehicle and should never leave the keys or key fob in your car.  It only takes seconds to steal items of value from an unlocked vehicle, and it doesn’t take much longer for the vehicle to be taken.
