Agreement with Axon Approved
The Board of Trustees approved a Master Services Purchasing Agreement between the Town of Firestone and Axon Enterprises, Inc. Axon will provide state-of-the-art technology, innovative tools and intuitive software that will address many non-compliance issues and transform the way the Firestone Police Department processes and stores information. Some of the services, tools and benefits include:
Replacement of all department body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, interview room camera system, and Tasers. Adds a drone evidence management module, a cloud-based crime-scene photo application for all police cell phones, a video redaction assistant, digital evidence tracking and a live-streaming feature for internal use. An important addition will also include, digital evidence sharing with the District Attorney’s Office. This will reduce additional staff time for classifying data, recovering data for court cases, and transferring information/cases to the District Attorney’s Office. The Axon system is cloud-based, and all software and hardware updates are maintained remotely by Axon. This ensures that the system is maintained properly and also ensures the integrity of the original video and photo evidence.

Town Accepts CDBG Funds for Expanded Via Services
On Wednesday night, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Weld County for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to expand the service agreement of Via Mobility Services for Firestone residents. Weld County was awarded CDBG funding in 2021, providing an opportunity for Weld County communities to apply as sub-recipients for funding for public improvements, including adequate public infrastructure, housing preservation, and access to public services. The Town of Firestone applied for funding to support the expansion of Via Mobility Services for the benefit of residents that are low to moderate-income, 60+ years of age, or disabled. The Town was awarded $90,000 from the County's CDBG allocation on March 29, 2021. Due to this funding, in a separate action, the Board of Trustees approved a modification to the original service agreement with Via to extend the hours and days the service is available to Firestone residents. The new services days and times are as follows: Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 3 PM, unless the day falls on a federal holiday.
