Santa Cop Success

For many years, the Carbon Valley Santa Cops program has provided warm winter clothing and necessities to underrepresented children in the Carbon Valley area during the holiday season. Hosted by the Firestone, Frederick, and Dacono Police Departments, this program is only made possible because of generous businesses and individuals who donate gifts and money to benefit these local families.

This holiday season, the Firestone Police Department assisted 41 families with 115 children. There were 230 ornaments placed on the Sharing Tree in the lobby of the Police Department.  Those ornaments provided each child with at least two gifts, one of a clothing item and one toy item from their wish list.  Five families were surprised with full sponsorships where the sponsors, who were local businesses or individuals, purchased all the gifts for each family.  All families met with Santa earlier this month and received their wrapped gifts.  In addition, over 20 local businesses and individuals gave monetary donations to the program, which allowed for the Firestone Police Department to provide families with gift cards to purchase additional gifts, warm clothing, and food items.
