Congratulations, Commander Scott!
In December of last year, Commander Brian Scott of the Firestone Police Department graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University. Commander Scott completed the ten (10) week Staff and Command program held in Adams County, Colorado, from August 16 – December 17, 2021. This program was implemented by the Center for Public Safety in 1983 and has graduated over 25,000 students. Commander Scott was a student in SPSC Class #504, along with 26 other students for the ten-week period.
The School of Police Staff and Command provides upper-level college instruction in a total of twenty-seven core blocks of instruction and additional optional blocks during each session. Each student is academically challenged through written examinations, projects, presentations, and quizzes in addition to a staff study paper that are all required parts of the curriculum. The major topics of study include: Leadership, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Organizational Behavior, Applied Statistics, Planning and Policy Development, Budgeting, and Resource Allocation.
The Firestone Police Department is committed to having the most professional and trained Command Staff, and the Northwestern University SPSC training moves this police department one step closer to accomplishing that goal.
The Town of Firestone commends Commander Scott for his commitment to continuing education and balancing working full-time and completing this program. Job well done!
