The Story Behind Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country. Founded by American Express (AMEX) in 2010, this day is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. Since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending nearly $140 billion across all 11 Small Business Saturdays combined. AMEX continues to analyze consumer support for small businesses, and the company also offers small business support services.
Small Business Saturday continues to be an annual holiday shopping tradition — just one part of the more extensive Shop Small Movement that supports small businesses every day and everywhere. As a Neighborhood Champion, the Town will be working to help you, Firestone business owners who wish to participate, and actively promote Small Business Saturday and Shop Small to the Firestone community. The Town of Firestone Communications Department will push out a series of messages to the community beginning November 23.
