NISP Agreement Approved
The Board of Trustees approved the 19th Interim Agreement for the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP). Once complete, NISP will supply 15 cities, towns, and water districts in Northern Colorado with 13 billion gallons of water annually. The Town of Firestone has been a participant in NISP since the mid-2000’s and is committed to 1,300 acre-feet of water. NISP is in the final stages of a 15-year environmental permitting process. Current projections are for constructing the diversion structures, dams, reservoirs, and pipelines to be completed by 2028.
The Town of Firestone’s Water Action Plan, which was adopted in 2020, relies on the partnership with NISP as a reliable source of water for the future of Firestone.
