Town Responds to Resident Concerns in Neighbors Point
This morning, February 9, 2023, the Firestone Public Works Department received two calls from residents in Neighbors Point concerned about the smell of their water. Public Works and Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District responded and could smell natural gas when on site. Black Hills Energy then responded and found a fitting on the resident’s gas meter that was either open or loose, allowing gas to leak out.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Weld County Health Department has been contacted to conduct further water quality testing to rule out any other problems that may have contributed to the smell.
The Town of Firestone will update the community after the testing has been completed.
