Life Saving Award: Officer Michael Ream and Sergeant Curt Bringle

Sergeant Curt Bringle and Officer Michael Ream were awarded the Lifesaving Award for an incident in May 2023. Sergeant Bringle was dispatched to a medical call on a reported unconscious, not-breathing male. Sergeant Bringle arrived at the residence before EMS and began to assess the male's condition but was unable to find a pulse. Sergeant Bringle began CPR and was able to locate a pulse a short time later; however, the male's pulse stopped again, and Sergeant Bringle continued to perform CPR. Officer Ream quickly and accurately recognized that the male was possibly suffering from an Opiate based drug overdose. Officer Ream quickly retrieved his Narcan from his patrol vehicle, returned to the residence, and administered Narcan to the male. After EMS arrived on the scene, the male began to breathe on his own and had a strong pulse. Sergeant Bringle and Officer Ream's actions warrant the issuance of the Lifesaving Award based upon their quick response, critical thinking, accurate assessment, and administration of Narcan, which ensured that the male was stabilized until EMS could arrive.
