Board of Trustees Swearing In Ceremony

Swearing-In Ceremony

Interim Town Clerk Miriam Luna Gonzalez conducted the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected Mayor and Trustees during the Wednesday, April 24th meeting.  

  • Mayor Don Conyac was sworn into office and will serve a 2-year term
  • Trustee Raymond Byrd was sworn into office and will serve a 4-year term
  • Trustee Linda Haney was sworn into office and will serve a 4-year term
  • Trustee Lorna Morton was sworn into office and will serve a 4-year term

Trustee Frank A. Jimenez was voted by the Board of Trustees to continue serving as Mayor Pro Tem.

Celebration of Service

During the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, April 24th, the Town of Firestone recognized the years of service given to the Town of Firestone by Mayor Drew Peterson and Trustees Sean Doherty, Doug Sharp, and David Whelan.

 They all have been a part of many projects, events, and celebrations throughout their years on the Board and played an integral role in shaping this community.  Thank you for your service!

Emergency Ordinance Approved

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved Ordinance 1041 by emergency, imposing residency restrictions for registered sex offenders. The passing of an Ordinance by emergency makes it effective immediately upon adoption. The complete ordinance can be read here. 

Mill & Overlay and Crack Repair Projects Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a construction contract with Brannan Sand and Gravel Company LLC to complete the mill and overlay paving and crack repair projects identified in the 2024 Capital Improvement Projects budget. 

The work will include the areas listed below:

Edge mill and overlay:

Monarch Estates

  • Sandy Ridge Ave- From Birch St to Barron St
  • Bald Eagle St from Sandy Ridge Ave to Monarch Dr
  • Silverleaf Ave- From Barron St to Cul-de-sac
  • Barron St- From Silverleaf Ave to Cud-de-sac.
  • Shenandoah Ave- From Silverleaf Ave to Cul-de-sac
  • Bedford St- From Monarch Dr to Cul-de-sac
  • Monarch Dr- From Bedford St to Bald Eagle St.
  • Bailey St- From Monarch Dr to Cul-de-sac
  • Belmont St- From Sandy Ridge Ave to Cul-de-sac
  • Autumn St- From Silverleaf Ave to Cul-de-sac

Oak Meadows

  • Ulysses Ave- From Oak Meadows Blvd down to and including both Cul-de-sac's
  • Oak Meadows Blvd- From Firestone Blvd 400' to Trailway Ave

Crack Repair:

  • 300 tons of crack repair will be completed on 2" or larger cracks in the Stone Ridge subdivision.
  • 500 tons of crack repair will be completed on 2" or larger cracks in the Monarch Estates subdivision.
  • 500 tons of crack repair will be completed on 2" or larger cracks in the Oak Meadows subdivision.

 The projects will begin no later than June 1, 2024, weather-dependent, and will be completed within 90 days. As more information is available on the schedule, it will be shared with the community.
