Agreements for 2025 Street Maintenance Projects Approved

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board approved two separate contracts with A1 to perform the Street Maintenance Projects for this summer. The road improvement project will include resurfacing, mill and overlay, and patching. Once the work schedule is finalized, it will be shared with the community.

The roads included in the resurfacing project are as follows:

  • Most of Sable Ave (CR 22), from E. I-25 Frontage Rd to Frontier Ave (CR 15)
  • Birch St (CR 11), from the southern Town limits (south) to Firestone Blvd (CR 24)
  • Frontier Ave (CR 15), from Sable Ave (CR 22) to Firestone Blvd
  • Colorado Blvd (CR 13), from Mountain Shadows Blvd to ½ mile north of CR 26


 The mill and overlay project includes:

  • Oak Meadows Blvd between Colorado Blvd and Deerfield Dr

UAS Regulation Ordinance

After a discussion at the March 19, 2025, Special Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a regulation Ordinance for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) during Wednesday night's meeting.

Ordinance 1064 addresses the use of UAS, including drones. At the direction of the Board of Trustees, this Ordinance ensures that the use of UAS within the Town does not pose a threat to public health, safety, welfare, or the Town's critical infrastructure.

Highlights of the Ordinance include:

  • It is unlawful for any person to operate a UAS in, over, and above Town Hall, the Police and Municipal Court Building, the Maintenance Facility, and the St Vrain Water Treatment Plant and its facilities, which include all wells, pump facilities, and reservoirs, unless they have prior written authorization.
  • It is unlawful for any person to hover, land, or otherwise operate a UAS in, on, or over another person's private property without the prior consent of such property owner.
  • The UAS shall be operated in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws regulating the operation of unmanned aircraft and unmanned aircraft systems, including any regulations adopted by the Federal Aviation Administration.

PTROC Members Appointed

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees appointed Paul Long and Molly Rushing to the Parks, Trails, Recreation & Open Space Commission (PTROC). The Commission consists of seven Town residents appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve for two-year terms, plus two members of the Board of Trustees serving as liaisons and alternate liaisons.

General responsibilities of PTROC include:

  • Advising the Board of Trustees on parks, trails, recreation, and open space matters.
  • Reviewing and recommending updates to the Town's Parks, Open Space, and Trails (POST) Master Plan.
  • Gathering community input on parks and recreation issues
  • Identifying potential funding sources, such as grants and donations

The next PTROC meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 4, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room/Court Room at the Firestone Police and Municipal Court Facility, 9900 Park Avenue, Firestone, CO 80504.
