Master Plan Update

During a meeting with the Board of Trustees and two members of the Parks, Trails & Recreation Advisory Board on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, two presentations were given by qualified consulting firms to provide professional master planning services with the purpose of preparing a Parks, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan for the Town of Firestone.

The Parks, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan will be used in conjunction with the Master Plan (Comprehensive Plan), and the Town’s goals to guide the development of future parks and recreational amenities and the enhancement of existing resources that will best meet the needs of this community.

Staff was given direction by the Board of Trustees to begin contract negotiations with Design Concepts, a firm founded in Colorado, with almost 40 years of recreation, education, master planning and community identity design experience.

During the meeting, the Board of Trustees, discussed at length the importance of receiving feedback and input from Firestone residents for this plan.  Design Concepts and staff will facilitate these stakeholder and public input processes to receive feedback, ideas and direction.  These opportunities will be published and the public is encouraged to attend.

As stakeholder meetings are scheduled and updates are made on the Master Plan process, information will be shared with the public and posted online at www.firestoneco.gov/MasterPlanProject.  If you have further questions about this project, please contact Director of Community Resources, Julie Pasillas, at 303-531-6258 or jpasillas@firestoneco.gov.
