Mayor's AwardDuring Wednesday night's meeting, Mayor Sindelar presented two residents with a Mayor's Award. Michael and Collette Ringhand were nominated by Trustee Don Conyac as two of the four founders of the St. Vrain Christmas Walk, hosted in the St. Vrain Ranch neighborhood. Over the past seven years, Michael and Collette have graciously opened their backyard to participants of these Christmas walks and offered a free cup of either hot chocolate or hot apple cider and a free cookie for the children. Participants were also invited to enjoy a few minutes of standing by a roaring fire to warm up a bit before heading back out to enjoy the rest of the walk. In addition, they also graciously hosted Santa Claus for two of the four nights. Over these seven years, approximately 50,000 people have enjoyed their kindness and love of community.
According to Trustee Conyac, "Michael and Collette Ringhand are the epitome of what it truly means to be a good neighbor. Both are always willing to help others when asked to do so without ever asking for anything in return. They are, who, like so many others in our community, make our town so very special."
Mayor Sindelar recognized Michael and Collette Ringhand with the Mayor's Award and recognized many other volunteers of the St. Vrain Christmas Walk.

Water's Edge RezoningDuring Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an ordinance to rezone Water's Edge (formerly The Shores) development. The site is located at the northeast corner of Firestone Boulevard (CR 24) and Birch Street (CR 11). The property is approximately 90 acres in size. The property was zoned as RC-Regional Commercial and R-C Residential C. Residential C is the Town's high-density zoning classification. The approved rezoning consists of 29+ acres of -Regional Commercial zoning and 60+ acres of Residential B zoning. The rezoning removes Residential C (high density/10-20 DU's per acre) zoning from the property. In addition, the Regional Commercial zoning adjacent to the existing Shores residential developments to the east is was rezoned to Residential B zoning. From a land-use standpoint, this rezoning removes the ability to construct multi-family dwellings or apartments from the property as Residential B zoning only allows single-family, paired homes, and townhomes at a maximum density of 10 DU's per acre.

Historic Firestone Neighborhood Plan AdoptionThe Board of Trustees ratified and approved the Planning & Zoning Commission's adoption of the Historic Firestone Neighborhood Plan during Wednesday night's meeting.
In the summer of 2021, the Town of Firestone began working on a Historic Firestone Neighborhood Plan. The consultant and town staff hosted community meetings, open houses, design workshops, attended community events, and had conversations with neighbors and business owners about the plan and their vision for the neighborhood. In early 2022, the draft plan was complete, and the community was invited to provide feedback. The purpose of the plan is to ensure that as the community grows, the Historic Firestone neighborhood continues to be a vibrant, lively, safe, well-kept, clean and inclusive environment for residents and commercial property owners. The adoption of this plan does not mean that the Town will immediately begin implementing all projects identified in the plan. Instead, the final plan provides an evaluation of the conditions and uniqueness of the original Town site and presents goals and policies to guide future Town decisions in the area. It is intended to assist in the investment of commercial uses and provide enhancements for the residents based on their values and needs.

Mill & Overlay Paving ProjectDuring Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with Brannan Sand and Gravel Company for mill and overlay treatment to the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. The work will include a 2" mill and overlay of Firestone Boulevard from Oak Meadows Boulevard to Cimarron Street, both east and westbound lanes, and a 2" mill and overlay of Colorado Boulevard from Cimarron Street to Oak Meadows Boulevard, both north, and southbound lanes. It will also include restriping and replacement of thermoplastic markings in that area. The contractor has agreed to do this work at night to minimize traffic impacts and reduce the effect on the surrounding businesses. While work is occurring, there will be traffic control in the areas, but the streets will not be closed. When a timeline for the work has been finalized, the Town will send out a notice to the residents.
