Could your home use a little extra care — without the extra cost?

Thanks to generous community volunteers, the Town of Firestone’s annual Friends of Firestone Day of Service helps eligible homeowners complete minor exterior home improvements at no cost. Now in its fourth year, this one-day community project brings neighbors together to assist residents who may not have the financial means to hire a commercial contractor.

Exterior maintenance projects can easily exceed $5,000. This program allows qualifying homeowners to save significantly while protecting and preserving their most important investment — their home.

Volunteer teams will provide support with:

  • Exterior home painting (Homes requesting exterior painting must be no taller than one and a half stories)
  • Minor exterior repairs
  • General yard clean-up and landscaping

Who Should Apply?

Firestone residents who need assistance with exterior home projects are encouraged to apply. 

  • All applications will be reviewed to ensure the program serves homeowners with demonstrated need. 
  • Project sites are assessed in advance, and selected homes are matched with volunteer teams for the event day.

Please note that project scope is limited to minor exterior improvements that can reasonably be completed during the one-day event.

Prepare Your Documents Before Applying

To ensure your application for the Day of Service program is processed smoothly, please gather the following documentation before starting your application:

  • Social Security statement showing monthly benefit

  • Social Security Disability Income statement showing monthly benefit, if applicable

  • Statement of income from any Pension or Retirement accounts (such as an annual statement)

  • Proof of residence in your home (such as a recent utility bill)

Applications submitted without all required documentation cannot be processed, so having these items ready will help your application move through the review process quickly.

Because space is limited and demand is high, we encourage interested homeowners to apply early. Application deadline is August 26, 2026.
