Accumulations of litter, junk, and debris are not allowed on property anywhere in the town.

If you’re concerned about a location with litter, junk, or debris on a property, please contact the Neighborhood Services Division.

If you are given notice for litter prohibited, you will generally have 10 days to remove the litter from your property or you may be cited.

Once a year, Firestone residents can bring unwanted household debris to Firestone’s Public Works facility at 7500 Pine Cone Ave (WCR 20).  Click here for more information on Firestone’s Clean Up Day.

Grass and/or weeds over 8 inches in height is considered “high” and will need to be cut. Noxious weeds of any height are prohibited.

Yes, homeowners are responsible for ensuring branches of any tree, shrub or other vegetation are trimmed to clear 14 feet above any street or alley or 10 feet above any public sidewalk. Trees and shrubs must also be trimmed to prevent the obstruction of any driver’s view and the blockage of street lights or street signs.

No, signs or banners may not be placed on any public street, public right-of-way or public property without a permit.  Firestone Municipal Code 12.12.020

Each single-family detached dwelling unit on a lot greater than 4,500 square feet, may have 6 chickens on their property.  You must obtain a backyard chicken permit from Planning and Development if you choose to have chickens.  Roosters are not permitted.

Note: Many homeowner association bylaws do not allow chickens or poultry of any kind. Applicants should check their HOA bylaws to confirm that chicken hens are permitted prior to filling out a Town application.

Yes, pet licenses are required for dogs and cats.  For further information, click here for the Animal Licensing Page. For concerns about animal-related issues, please contact the Community Services Unit by calling non-emergency police dispatch at 720-652-4222.

No, the Town does not generally require a permit for yard sales.  A resident may have a maximum of 7 days of garage or yard sales per calendar year.

Note: selling goods as part of a home occupation business requires a valid business license with the Town. See our Business Related Licenses page for more details.

Barking dog complaints are investigated by the Community Services Unit.  To report a concern, call non-emergency police dispatch at 720-652-4222. 

Note: The dog must be barking in an excessive, continuous, or untimely fashion to be considered a disturbance.  Read More: Firestone Municipal Code 6.05.030

Many home improvement projects require building permits. Some projects that may require a permit include: decks, finishing basements, electrical, HVAC, roofing, siding, and sheds.

Vehicles that are parked further than 50 feet from the owner’s property for longer than 24 hours may be considered abandoned. Inoperable or junk vehicles must be stored in a completely enclosed structure and may not be parked on public streets. Restoration of hobby vehicles must be done in either a completely enclosed garage or a side or back yard behind a solid fence at least 6 feet tall.

• Concerns about vehicles parked on public streets should be directed to the Community Services Unit by calling non-emergency police dispatch at 720-652-4222.

If you are given notice for a junk vehicle on your property, you will have 10 days to remove the vehicle or you may be cited for having an abandoned, junk, or inoperable vehicle on your property.

Permitted construction, maintenance, or repair activities in residentially-zoned areas are allowed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Yes, residents are responsible for removing the snow and ice from the public sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after the last measurable accumulation. Snow removal complaints should be directed to the Community Services Unit by calling non-emergency police dispatch, call 720-652-4222.

Follow the instructions given on the notice to correct the violation by the required date. If you do not understand the violation or have questions, call the officer whose name and phone number is provided on the notice.

Requesting additional time: If you cannot correct the violation by the date required on your notice, you must contact the issuing officer before that date. The officer will review your case to determine if there are any options for assistance or a possible extension. Extensions are not guaranteed but may be granted when need can be demonstrated.

If you choose not to comply: Further actions may be taken including administrative citations, summons to court, or abatement by the Town with the cost billed to the property owner.

There are several ways to verify whether an address is located within Town boundaries.

1. An interactive Town Limit map is available on the Town’s website: https://www.firestoneco.gov/176/Maps-Development-Plans.
2. When initiating a complaint in the Citizenserve online portal, the system will attempt to validate the address entered as a Firestone address. If the address falls within Town boundaries, you will receive a “verified” message. If the address falls outside of Town boundaries, you will receive a message stating that the address cannot be found, and asking whether you’d like to proceed.
