- Volunteer Program (VIPS)
Volunteers are an important part of any organization and are proven to be a valuable asset to law enforcement agencies. Many volunteer with their law enforcement to fulfill civic responsibility and to give back to officers that provide for their safety. Volunteering in law enforcement benefits the agency, the volunteer, and the community.
Our Volunteers in Police Service (V.I.P.S.) can be called on to help with everything from organizing and staffing, National Night Out and other events, role playing for training, research, answering phone calls or various other administrative duties. V.I.P.S. are an extremely important asset to the Firestone Police Department. We strive to utilize our V.I.P.S. in almost every area of the Department and will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall quality of service to the community.
V.I.P.S will be utilized for various administrative tasks. Some tasks include data entry, records entry, answering phone calls, photocopying, folding brochures, and scanning documents.
Multiple special events are available with the Firestone Police Department. V.I.P.S. may also be called upon to assist in emergency situations such as in the event of a missing child or senior citizen.
The Firestone Police Department offers a Citizen Police Academy which is an annual opportunity providing hours of lecture, discussion and hands-on activities. V.I.P.S. help with organizing the classroom materials and by being role-players in scenarios.
Many times, a person presenting a special skill set can help us open a new area to volunteerism, which had not been considered in the past. The Volunteer Coordinator will be able to help find the "best fit" in the volunteer program.
The V.I.P.S. program was organized in order to more effectively accomplish our goals through community involvement.
